Export a patient file
Sometimes, clinicians need to share patient files with medical practitioners outside their secure network or organisation.
When exporting a patient file, ResScan Essentials offers three encryption options:
Use a random 6-digit code
Specify file password (different from your organisational password)
Basic encryption (no password)
Note
Basic encryption lets a clinician open the file with ResScan Essentials , but it's the least secure option and isn't recommended.
The receiving clinician must know the password or 6-digit code to open the file.
Important
Do not share this information by email unless the email is encrypted. The safest option is to share the password by phone or text.
Open an exported file
To open an exported shared file from a network location or email:
Move the shared file to your organisation's default patient location.
Locate the file and double-click to open it.
Enter the 6-digit code or file password.
If it still doesn't work, and you've verified the code or password, contact the sender for help.
